Phoebe’s small three-bedroom house is her pride and joy. It took her ten years of hard work to pay it off. But she didn’t feel safe when her sister Holly and her family showed up without being asked and made themselves at home.
Holly and Phoebe used to be close, but after Holly got married, they stopped seeing each other as much. Holly’s free energy often led to lectures on how to live life to the fullest, which Phoebe found annoying. Even though they don’t get along, Phoebe never thought Holly would go too far like this.
Nicholas and Holly sold their house to pay for a trip around the world that would last a year. They wouldn’t listen when Phoebe told them about the money risks. Now it was clear that their adventure had gone wrong, and they were going to Phoebe’s house to stay safe.
Phoebe was shocked by how daring they were to act. They broke in and used an extra key that their mother gave them without permission. Phoebe felt like someone was invading her space, and her anger grew.
Phoebe didn’t know what to do until her friend Alex sent her a text message at the right time. With handcuffs on, Alex, who is great at pulling tricks, showed up dressed as a police officer. They came up with a plan to kick Holly and Nicholas out.
As “Officer Johnson,” Alex confidently told Holly and Nicholas that they would be charged with breaking and entering and trespassing. They quickly got their things together and ran away, saying sorry and returning the extra key.
After her home was back to being peaceful, Phoebe thought about what had happened. She understood that making limits with her family was important and that putting herself first wasn’t being selfish. Alex stepping in at the right time saved lives.
After the meeting, Phoebe wasn’t sure what would happen with her friendship with Holly. Would this event make them even less close, or could they get back together? Time would tell.
As Phoebe sipped her coffee with Alex, she thought about how thankful she was for his help and how a little creativity and a fake police outfit can sometimes be the best way to stop an unwanted family invasion.
