Going out to eat with young children can be scary for many families, especially when they have to deal with public places and the possibility of bothering other people. Katie Leach, a mother of a 10-month-old baby, picked Texas Roadhouse because it was busy and she wanted to avoid any trouble.
However, Katie’s happy baby kept crying out loud during her meal, which caught the attention of other people eating nearby. Most of the staff and customers were understanding, but an old couple behind her table left a rude note to let her know they weren’t happy:
“Thank you for making our dinner unpleasant with your screaming kid.” Thank you very much, the table behind you ”
Even though they were criticised, Texas Roadhouse took a kind attitude. Their willingness to welcome families is shown by the fact that they not only paid for Katie’s meal but also invited her to come back.
Texas Roadhouse’s Travis Doster was proud to say, “We’re known for our energetic atmosphere, and we wear that badge proudly.”
There has always been a debate about whether or not families with young children should be considerate of other diners. Is the odd cry just a normal part of family dining? The answer from Texas Roadhouse makes it clear that all families are welcome, no matter what age or amount of noise they make.
Through social media, Katie wrote, “His cries weren’t from anger or sadness, but pure delight and ecstasy.” We might need to rethink what we expect from family-friendly restaurants and enjoy the music of parenthood, tears and all.
