Lucy and Ross Matthews had been looking forward to having their kids for a long time. Surprisingly, though, Savannah, the hospital nurse, came back with two girls instead of the expected boy and girl.
Lucy was crazy. “Where is my son?” “Whose baby is this?” she asked, even though Savannah said the twins were girls.
Dr. Linda Carter stepped in because she thought something wasn’t right. She looked over the papers and found that Savannah had swapped Lucy’s son for another baby girl by accident.
Lucy was following Savannah and Dr. Carter when she heard a terrible story. Savannah’s sister had died after giving birth, and her husband had left her. Savannah had swapped the babies because she really wanted to give her niece a better home.
Being moved by Savannah’s situation, Lucy chose not to make a complaint. Instead, she couldn’t get the thought of the child away from her mind.
Lucy told Ross at breakfast, “I want to adopt her.” Ross was on the fence because he had practical worries, but Lucy’s strong belief convinced him.
Ross was touched by the child’s innocent eyes when he held her. Their new daughter was called Amelia, and the adoption process was all done.
Savannah started coming over often to spend the weekends with Lucy’s kids, Sia and Mark, who are twins, and Amelia. The Matthews family felt whole and thankful for the surprise gift that brought them closer together.
As Lucy and Ross got used to their new life, they realised that life’s surprises can bring the best things. They were so happy with Amelia that it was hard to describe, and they knew they had made the right choice.
The power of kindness, love, and the uncertain path of life can be seen in their story.
